FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most often from new and existing clients.
How do I check the status of my refund?
You can check directly on the IRS website (federal) or AZTaxes.gov (Arizona state). Refunds typically arrive within 21 days for e-filed returns.
Do you work with small businesses year-round or just at tax time?
Year-round. Many of our small business clients use us for monthly bookkeeping, payroll, quarterly estimated taxes, and strategic planning — not just the annual return.
What are the Arizona state tax credit options?
Arizona offers several tax credits that reduce what you owe dollar-for-dollar — including credits for qualifying charities, schools, and foster care organizations. We can walk you through which ones apply to your situation.
Do I need a CPA or can I just use tax software?
Tax software works well for very straightforward returns, but if you own a business, have multiple income sources, real estate, investments, or significant life changes — a CPA will almost always save you more than their fee. We also provide year-round planning, not just filing.
How far in advance should I schedule for tax season?
We recommend booking by early February. Our calendar fills up quickly between February and April 15th. Existing clients receive priority scheduling — we'll reach out in January with a reminder.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Prior year tax returns, all income statements (W-2s, 1099s), records of deductible expenses, Social Security numbers for you and any dependents, and any IRS correspondence you've received.
